About this event
Dan and Tod's other Excellent Adventure.
Out and Back ride from Estabrook Park in Shorewood to Grant Park in South Milwaukee. This Urban Adventure route is about 90% on bike trails with a few city streets in the downtown area.
This is a very challenging route through the east side of Milwaukee county on the Oak Leaf Trail. Explore Veteran's Park, the Art Museum, Lakeshore State Park, Summerfest, Histroric 3rd Ward, Walker's Point, Bay View, South Shore Beach and yacht club, St. Francis, Cudahy, and South Milwaukee.
Most of the route is through county parks and hugs the lakeshore, but there are a few streets where extra caution is necessary. There are railroad tracks in Walker's Point along Water Street and a short stretch on Kinnickinnick where you share the road with auto traffic. Bike trails are inherently more dangerous than open road riding. Stay alert and ride cautiously. Even if you are using RwGPS, it is highly recommended that you print up the cue sheet and reference it for safety entries, especially in the Walker's Point warehouse area.
Rest stop half way at the Grant Park Golf Clubhouse. Water, Snacks, Toilets.
